Three days of celebrating winter with just enough snow, cool yet perfect temps, and sunny days. Many came out to kick it all off Friday night for ice skating, cocoa & Burning of the Greens. Saturday saw the Dog Sled Teams sharing their talents and heading out on the trails for the Mahoosuc 100 Race. The mid winter market was held at Milan Village School with plenty of crafters, bakers and a wide variety of vendors selling local goods. There was also a Heritage Ski Display and kids activity room along with music by Bruce Kimball. The broomball tournament went most of the day and many were seen enjoying the ski trails up at Nansen. Sunday the last of dog sled teams arrived at final checkpoint near 4a.m at the Mahoosuc Inn.
Sunday was the 6th annual Nansen XC Ski Races at Milan Hill State Park. 14K, 5K and kids races of various lengths depending on grade took place with racers taking to the trails. Snow conditions were good, skiers were fast, and spectators enjoyed the cool yet sunny day. Thank you to the many volunteers throughout the weekend that helped make it all happen.
